Erie Events Enters Management Agreement with the Erie Zoo, beginning in January 2026
City Council signed off on a resolution approving the transfer of property ownership of the zoo, Glenwood Gold Course, Flo Fabrizio Ice Rink & Glenwood Park from the city of Erie to Erie Events. Erie Events and the Erie Zoo reached a management agreement that will include $500,000 a year in financial support from Erie Events. The agreement will include stipulation that Erie Events has final say over the zoo's annual operating budget. The city will continue to operate Glenwood Park's picnic grounds and horseshoe courts while Erie Events will maintain the Erie Zoo and Golf Course. This conversation started due to the Erie Zoo regaining accreditation, expanding their veterinary center, and helping with their annual budget due to lack of funding sources.
